Teacher of the Year

Teacher of the Year Award

The Science Teacher of the Year Awards are given by the ASTA to recognize and honor our colleagues who exemplify quality science teaching. Three awards are given each year: (1) the elementary level (grades K-5), (2) middle school/junior high level (graded 6-8), and (3) the high school level (grades 9-12). Nominees must meet the following criteria to be eligible for an award:

  1. Hold a valid Arizona teaching certificate;
  2. Be a full-time classroom teacher;
  3. Be a member of the Arizona Science Teachers Association.  

Awards will be presented at the ASTA Celebration Social that will take place during the ASTA Annual Conference on Friday, November 7, 2014.  Teacher of the Year awardees are encouraged to present at future conferences.

ASTA is currently not accepting Teacher of the Year Award Application for 2014.

Novice Teacher of the Year Award

The Novice Science Teacher of the Year Award is given by the ASTA to recognize and honor a science teacher who demonstrated during his/her first three years outstanding potential for a life of quality science teaching. Nominees must meet the following criteria to be eligible for this award:

  1. Be teaching within the first three years of their professional career;
  2. Hold a valid Arizona teaching certificate;
  3. Be a full-time classroom teacher at either the elementary, middle school, or high school level; and
  4. Be a member of the Arizona Science Teachers Association.

This award is given each year and will be presented at the annual ASTA Celebration Social that will occur during the ASTA Annual Conference on Friday, November 7, 2014.  Teacher of the Year awardees are encouraged to present at future conferences.

ASTA is currently not accepting Teacher of the Year Award Application for 2014.

Current ASTA board members are not eligible to apply for Teacher of the Year Awards.
